DENZIL PORTER WAKES US UP WITH “GOOD MORNING, GOOD AFTERNOON”
Off Forthcoming Project, Redwood Road

NEW YORK, NEW YORK APRIL 1, 2014 – “Good Morning, Good Afternoon” is Denzil Porter’s first release from his forthcoming project Redwood Road (release date not yet announced). Jeffery Barnett produced “Good Morning, Good Afternoon” with accents of classic drums, cinematic synths and the sounds of morning birds, making this a mellow, stadium qualified, Golden Era timestamp record. Inspiration was borrowed from Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds”, which sets the stage for a wake up call where mornings blend into nights and nights blend into mornings.

“Good Morning, Good Afternoon” is a song for the late birds: those who say good morning in the afternoon. Excelling at his knack for storytelling, Denzil Porter gives us a window to watch a day in the life of a young man from New York City. “Today I’ll do some tricks to turn this weight into food,” Denzil raps. Despite the grind and hustle, we hear a story of trials, triumphs, and determination as he attempts to make the most of his moments, at any time of the day.

“Good Morning, Good Afternoon” is the type of record you set as your alarm clock. The concept, with a slight twist to it, sets the first verse in the afternoon, which is considered morning to late risers. The second verse is the evening, where we say, “Good Evening, Good Afternoon”. The last verse is at night, where we stay up all night chasing our dreams, saying “Good Night, to Good Evening” from offices to studios. This track explains how Denzil Porter’s grind makes him sleep through the morning. With no actual “morning” verse, “Good Morning, Good Afternoon” still fills its listener with that feel good, morning vibe.

DENZIL PORTER RELEASES HIS NEWEST MIXTAPE,

PORTER’S POT

Not Hosted by DJ Drama

NEW YORK, NEW YORK DECEMBER 20, 2012 – Rapper Denzil Porter has just released his highly anticipated project, Porter’s Pot, Not Hosted by DJ Drama.  Tracks include club banger “Rock Paper Scissors”, intimate songs “Heavy Rain” and “Take Me Away” and newly released “The Truth” with skits featuring G-Unit Comedian Jack Thriller.  Porter’s Pot contains production by notable Home Made Music producers Christopher “Claws” Stevens and Mark XLNCE as well as new sound from Da Illfellaz and The Awesome Sound.  Porter’s Pot can be downloaded on DatPiff at http://www.datpiff.com/Denzil-Porter-Porters-Pot-mixtape.432229.html.

Porter’s Pot is short for Porter’s potential.  It is also synonymous with a melting pot, in which you can throw a little of everything in and get a lot out of, making something from nothing.  The pot is significant to every culture, be it a family using it to make soup, a scientist formulating medicine or a witch performing black magic. A pot is the strong foundation mixing and holding everything together as it combines as a whole.

Musically, Porter’s Pot is a collage of songs demonstrating the current culture of music mixed with Denzil’s musical potential.  The main goal for the mixtape is to show people that a host or a cosign is not needed if the music can speak for itself; hence, Porter’s Pot not being hosted by DJ Drama.  Though Porter’s Pot is considered a mixtape, it is easy to get lost in its production and receive it as a full album.

Grab a bowl of Porter’s Pot to see what people are talking about.

DENZIL PORTER RELEASES “ROCK PAPER SCISSORS”

Second single off forthcoming project Porter’s Pot

NEW YORK, NEW YORK AUGUST 31, 2012 – Rapper Denzil Porter drops his newest track “Rock Paper Scissors” (R.P.S.) off his forthcoming project Porter’s Pot set to drop this Fall.  “Rock Paper Scissors” was produced by Christopher “Claws” Stevens, who also produced Denzil Porter’s recently released “Whole Lotta O’s”, “Ray Bans” and very popular track “Intuition”.

“Claws came in like Santa Claus with a bag of beats,” Denzil says, “but once I heard this beat, the verses came to me immediately.”  “Rock Paper Scissors”, normally a random selection method, is used here to describe the method in which Denzil throws his “Paper” up, while beautiful women claim their cut like “Scissors”, giving them incentive to let it “Rock” all night.

With its relatable story telling, punchlines, banging beat and nostalgic hook; “Rock Paper Scissors” creates this eerie sounding club banger that has already become a popular performance track, receiving great feedback and crowd participation.

With “Ray Bans” Supplement

BRONX, NEW YORK MAY 1, 2012 – Denzil Porter releases his newest music video to “Bring It On” with a B-side sample of “Ray Bans”.  “Bring It On”, produced by Trent is a feel good track off of Denzil Porter’s newest project Home Made Music.  The video can be viewed via YouTube here: http://youtu.be/d2H1GiI6gLc.

The video, produced by Stein A., is soulful, nostalgic and easy-going.  Inspired by A Tribe Called Quest’s “Award Tour” video, Denzil Porter gives you the visual to a song representing that special time in hip hop when music gave the listener a feeling of freedom and jubilance.  On this playful track, Denzil is able to just rap with no barriers, allowing him to “rap and say what he wanna” just as long as the “music don’t stop”.  “Bring It On” was created as a timestamp so that whenever one hears the track, be it today or 20 years from now, the listener will be able to reminisce on that good feeling this song gave them then and for years to come.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DENZIL PORTER RELEASES HIS NEWEST VIDEO, “HAYMAKER”

“Haymaker” Drops at Video Release Party

BRONX, NEW YORK JULY 2, 2011 – Rapper Denzil Porter kicked off the release of his newest music video, “Haymaker” with a release party Thursday June 30, 2011 at The Skinny Bar & Lounge in NYC.  “Haymaker”, featuring Connie Diamond was produced by Yung Fatz, with the video directed by Denzil Porter and Jaison Williams.  “Haymaker” can be viewed via YouTube at http://bit.ly/kzpsff.

After the clock struck 12 midnight Friday into July 1st, “Haymaker” was projected in the middle of bar for all to view.  Though the sound system was on full blast, the voices of the crowd filled the bar, as everyone seemed to know the lyrics to the track already.  “We don’t need a chorus, or a playmaker, this not only the hook, this a haymaker!”  Chants of “HAYMAKER! HAYMAKER! HAYMAKER!” continued throughout the night as guests drank, ate and partied into the night in celebration of Denzil Porter’s newest hit.

“Haymaker”, literally meaning a powerful punch thrown to knock out an opponent, is a song Denzil and Connie used to show off their metaphorical skills when making punch line records.  By throwing punch lines back to back while creating an undeniable flow of word play at the same time, “Haymaker” shows off the lyrical side of both artists.

“Once Connie and I heard the beat,” Denzil says, “We started writing.  It was automatic, we knew what we had to do, create a song, bar for bar like a boxing match”. “Haymaker” has a very unique format.  It is designed for listeners who enjoy complex word play and can handle a few hooks and jabs.

DENZIL PORTER RELEASES HIS NEWEST VIDEO, “DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE”

Iconic novel of the 1880’s inspires Denzil’s split personality

BRONX, NEW YORK APRIL 25, 2011 – Rapper Denzil Porter releases his newest music video “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” via YouTube, www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kt2PvVFaNgQ. “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” is his second single off his newest project, following “On the Plains”, which reached over 12,500 YouTube views after being released.

“Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” was inspired by Robert Stevenson’s 1886 novel, “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde”.  Just like the story, the song is a collaboration, introducing the both sides of Denzil Porter.  With the mask on, Denzil represents Dr. Jekyll; conservative and mysterious.  When Denzil removes his mask, he channels Mr. Hyde; unleashing the beast he really is.

The video, avant-garde in its creativity, was produced with very few props and only one camera.  The simplicity of the video was to not distract viewers from the complex lyrics and jam-packed punch lines; a true feast to the ears.  Through “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”, Denzil Porter sends the message that no matter who you are now or who you become in the future, you must never let anyone hold back who you truly are, no matter how many personalities that may include.
