NEWS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DENZIL PORTER WAKES US UP WITH “GOOD MORNING, GOOD AFTERNOON”
Off Forthcoming Project, Redwood Road

NEW YORK, NEW YORK APRIL 1, 2014 – “Good Morning, Good Afternoon” is Denzil Porter’s first release from his forthcoming project Redwood Road (release date not yet announced). Jeffery Barnett produced “Good Morning, Good Afternoon” with accents of classic drums, cinematic synths and the sounds of morning birds, making this a mellow, stadium qualified, Golden Era timestamp record. Inspiration was borrowed from Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds”, which sets the stage for a wake up call where mornings blend into nights and nights blend into mornings.

“Good Morning, Good Afternoon” is a song for the late birds: those who say good morning in the afternoon. Excelling at his knack for storytelling, Denzil Porter gives us a window to watch a day in the life of a young man from New York City. “Today I’ll do some tricks to turn this weight into food,” Denzil raps. Despite the grind and hustle, we hear a story of trials, triumphs, and determination as he attempts to make the most of his moments, at any time of the day.

“Good Morning, Good Afternoon” is the type of record you set as your alarm clock. The concept, with a slight twist to it, sets the first verse in the afternoon, which is considered morning to late risers. The second verse is the evening, where we say, “Good Evening, Good Afternoon”. The last verse is at night, where we stay up all night chasing our dreams, saying “Good Night, to Good Evening” from offices to studios. This track explains how Denzil Porter’s grind makes him sleep through the morning. With no actual “morning” verse, “Good Morning, Good Afternoon” still fills its listener with that feel good, morning vibe.

DENZIL PORTER WANTS TO KNOW WHAT SIDE YOU ON

“The Other Side” featuring Swerve Mitch

NEW YORK, NEW YORK JANUARY 7, 2013 – Denzil Porter rolls up his sleeves and looks “The Other Side” square in the eye on his newest track featuring WreckHouse comrade Swerve Mitch. “The Other Side” is produced by Lavish, whose previous work includes “Super Cool” for Troy Ave and production work for Bodega Bamz.

“The Other Side” evokes the gritty battle arena that transcends from the early roots of hip-hop. It draws in listeners, as Denzil Porter and Swerve Mitch spectate, head-bobbing, waiting for the next move.

“Alright now I don’t give a damn what the other side say, the other side, the other side, that’s where the other side stay. And tell the other side that the other side said, if they fuck with my side, then the other side dead”

Bar by bar, Denzil menacingly edges the other side on, standing firmly and amused while providing story snapshots of his awareness of how the other side functions. Swerve Mitch steps up and complements the track with his own unique flow, putting another spin to the concept of the “other side”.

DENZIL PORTER STILL HAS THE JUICE IN NEW MUSIC VIDEO “BISHOP”

NEW YORK, NEW YORK APRIL 30, 2013 – Following the release of his newest record “Bishop”, Denzil Porter delivers the visual, with video shot by 4UEntertainment. Watch “Bishop” here: http://youtu.be/olRHMb42JUs

Shot in the streets of New York City, viewers see the story unfold of an unruly character making bad decisions after obtaining a new form of power. Denzil Porter raps, “No matter how he cheat death, she ain’t break up with him yet”. Though he gets away with so much, it’s only a matter of time before fate catches up.

Bishop, Tupac’s adverse character in the coming of age film Juice, was who came to mind after Denzil Porter completed this track, hence the name of the record. “Bishop”, very political like Denzil Porter’s noted song “Intuition”, hits on the very controversial topic of United States gun laws. Just one week ago, the Senate rejected the bill for expanded gun background checks. This law would require private sellers at gun shows and over the Internet to administer background checks through a licensed firearms dealer. Though the majority of Americans feel that this would stop gun violence, there are countless others who feel that especially in urban communities, implementing laws will not change one’s mindset and agenda. “Bishop” proves that guns do not kill people, but rather, people kill people.

DENZIL PORTER SHOWS WHO GOT THE JUICE WITH HIS NEW RECORD “BISHOP”

 DenzilPorterBishop

NEW YORK, NEW YORK APRIL 23, 2013 – Denzil Porter releases his newest record “Bishop”, produced by Christopher “Claws” Stevens.

Bishop, Tupac’s adverse character in the coming of age film Juice, was who came to mind after Denzil Porter completed this track. With a deep New York straight gutter, street feel, “Bishop” tells the story of an unruly character who makes bad decisions after obtaining a new form of power. Denzil Porter raps, “No matter how he cheat death, she ain’t break up with him yet”. Though he gets away with so much, it’s only a matter of time before fate catches up. “Bishop” ends the same way it begins – with the exact thing that gave him this power. This is a rather common ending for those who fall victim to the streets. Denzil raps, “Last thing go through his mind, should’ve never tried nothing”.
